The dot will change color if there is water damage - white means no damage, yellow means very little water damage, red means alot of water damage. Hope this helps. I traveled with my Sprint cell to Cozumel, Grand Caiman and Jamaica, and was able to roam in all of them. You will not have service while at open sea. Check your carrier roaming fees. I however went on Carnivals Mexican Riviera cruise so I can say for sure if you service will be the same, but I imagine it would work when you are close to land.
